Year 11 Revision Homework – Human Relationships

Dear Year 11s,

We’re starting to go back through Year 10 topics as revision homework. You need to dig out your Year 10 books to answer the following:

(a) What does contraception mean? [1]
(b) Name two forms of contraception that might be acceptable to some Christians. [2]
(c) Describe the attitudes towards sex before marriage of some Christians. [3]
(d) Explain Christian beliefs about the value of sexual relationships. [6]
(e) ‘It is the duty of religious people to encourage contraception to avoid overpopulation.’ [12]

Due dates:
11D – Tuesday 18th September

Please speak to me BEFORE it’s due if you don’t understand anything!

 
 

Year 11: “Explain Christian beliefs about the soul” (6 marks)

Hello 11D. Just a reminder that you need to complete this Part D question for Monday (16th).

Remember to use the Christian beliefs about the soul handout you were given and to EXPLAIN (ie, give reasons for) what Christians believe the soul to be like, how it separates us from animals, and how Plato and St Paul understood it.

(b) Describe (with examples) two types of miracles Jesus performed. [2]
(c) How do Christians believe they can know what God is like? [3]
(d) Explain what Christians believe about the nature of God. [6]
(e) ‘If miracles were true, they would happen all the time.’ [12]

This is due on the 29th November for 11D and 1st December for 11C please!

(b) What is meant by the terms ‘pro choice’ and ‘pro life’? [2]
(c) Give three reasons to explain why Christians believe that life is sacred. [3]
(d) Explain Christian attitudes to suicide. [6]
(e) ‘People in great pain should be allowed to die if they want to.’ [12]

Year 11 Human Relationships homework

The question for homework is this, be sure to answer all parts ON PAPER please (typed or written), not in your book:

(a) What is meant by ‘annulment’? (1)
(b) State two situations in which an annulment might be possible. (2)
(c) Describe three Christian beliefs about divorce. (3)
(d) Explain what Christians believe about the purpose of marriage. (6)
(e) ‘Women should always obey their husbands.’ (12)

Remember to be analytical for part E. What are the strengths and weaknesses of different views?

Go back through your notes if you can’t remember any of the answers. If you’re really stuck then leave a comment!

Out of the goodness of our hearts the RPE department have scheduled some revision sessions for you all. Each one covers a particular topic so have a look down the list and get them in your diary!

In years gone by people who have gone to revision sessions have, on average, done better than those who have not…

Unless otherwise stated the sessions are after school from 3pm to 4pm in RPE1.
