Archbishop’s lecture on Prison Reform

Hi 11s,

I found this lecture from John Sentamu, Archbishop of York, delivered yesterday to the Prisoners Education Trust. It’s all about restorative justice and rehabilitation. Makes some interesting links with Christian theology too.

It’s fairly dense but very interesting, so if you fancy an extra challenge I’d encourage you to read it… You can either find the original text here or read the Word document I’ve created with a few subheadings to make it easier to read.

You can also listen to John Sentamu’s radio interview on the subject if you like (42 minutes into the broadcast)…

Year 11 Human Relationships Homework

Hi Year 11, please remember that you have some homework (due Monday 4th)! The question is here:

(a) What is meant by ‘annulment’? [1]
(b) State two situations in which an annulment might be possible. [2]
(c) Describe three Christian beliefs about divorce. [3]
(d) Explain what Christians believe about the purpose of marriage. [6]
(e) ‘Women should always obey their husbands.’
Discuss this statement. You should include different, supported points of view and a personal viewpoint. You must refer to Christianity in your answer. [12]
