I’d like to share some of the children’s books created by 8O:
Molly’s A Leaf for Every Soul is a superb read, and I must say that Conor’s Mr Happy and his Unhappy Day was a classic addition to the Mr Men franchise.
Well done all!
Just stumbled across a fasctinating mini-article on Christian understandings of the authority of the Bible. Note that “sola scriptura” is the belief that the Bible alone provides God’s words and is the final authority on Christian doctrine.
Brian McClaren is a really interesting theologian and I would recommend all Theology Thursday folks to dip into his blog… (and read his book, A New Kind of Christianity).
Hi all,

Your task is to write a song with an ethically positive message. You could either make it up completely or re-write the lyrics to a real song.
Your other option is to write a story about a situation in which someone has a decision to make and is helped to do so by hearing a piece of music.
The words for all the songs we listened to in class are here.
Below are the videos for inspiration…
Kanye West – Jesus Walks
Bob Marley – Redemption Song
Black Eyed Peas – Where is the Love?
John Lennon – Imagine
The whole PowerPoint for the lesson is available here
Your next practise question is on Good and Evil:
It’s due the w/b Monday 29th November
Good luck!
Your job is to respond to the following statement: “It is not possible to describe what God is like”.
Suggested structure:
Good luck! This is due next Wednesday (24th November).
Please email me if you have any questions…
The question is: “Does the Cosmological Argument prove the existence of God? Why or why not?”
Your job is to explain whether you think Aquinas’ argument is good evidence for the existence of God.
Does the idea that there must be a being that “caused” the universe prove that God exists. There’s a cause for everything, there must be a cause for the universe right?
On the other hand, people might say that God can’t explain the universe. If the universe needs a cause, then doesn’t God need a cause too? If not, why not?
Try to explain both sides of the argument, then give a conclusion to say which you think is true.
Just for fun, here’s the YouTube video of the Domino Chain:

Thanks to those of you who came to the first Theology Thursdays today.
Please get yourselves a copy of the book.
For next week you need to have read Chapter Four on reading the Bible in a “Re-enchanted” way!
I’m setting up a reading group on Thursday lunchtimes called Theology Thursdays.
This term we’re going to look at Dave’s Tomlinson’s book called Re-Enchanting Christianity.
This is Dave Tomlinson.
We’ll be kicking off on Thursday lunchtime at 12:30 in RPE3 on the 11th November. You don’t need to read anything in advance, just come along (with some lunch) and we’ll discuss what we’re going to be doing…
If you want to get reading in advance you can get the book pretty cheaply from Amazon. Even if you don’t want to buy just yet it’s worth looking at the reviews.
Finally, I know Dave Tomlinson a bit. He lives just down the road in London and I’ve invited him to come and talk to us. If you get involved this might be a great opportunity to meet a real, active and influential writer and discuss his ideas.
Hope to see you on Thursday! Leave a comment if you think you might come – it’d be useful to know how many to expect!
Hi CVC,
I’ve updated the theme for the blog. What do you think?
Leave a comment to let me know!
Thanks
Mr Bigg
