The point of this project is for you to show me how well you can deal with the information available about the resurrection. The links below should help provide you with plenty of information.
General information:
Feel free to do a Google search too. A lot of the information out there is quite complex but it would be great if you can find something different!

We tried to do a bit of drama looking at the final night of Jesus’ life. The script is here: final night.
Next week we’ll look at some of the gory details of his death.

Here are some of the homework pictures of Jesus you guys did for me:
Bethanie says about her picture: “I chose to draw Jesus like this because even though he’s dying he is relaxed and happy because he knows he is dying for what he believes. In my opinion I think Jesus should be remembered like this because it’s what Christians believe.”

Today we looked at postcards of Jesus (you can find them all at the bottom of this post).
You each looked at 3 postcards and wrote about what you thought they were saying about Jesus. We discussed what you had found and then you started thinking about your own pictures of Jesus:
If you were going to draw a picture of Jesus, how would you do it?
What kind of person would you draw?
Would he be strong? Powerful? Wise? Kind? Angry? Happy? Tall? Female?
You made notes about what you thought, and wrote down some ideas about how your drawing would get these ideas across.
Your homework was to take these ideas home, draw the picture, and write a paragraph explaining what you’ve drawn.
This whole piece of work will be marked out of 12 (4 for effort, 4 for presentation, 4 for understanding). For each mark you get a raffle ticket which gives you an entry into a prize draw.
1st prize is 5 merits, 2nd prize is 3 merits, 3rd prize is 1 merit. The better your work, the more chance of winning a prize! Good luck!
Read this for tips on doing well:
- Level 4: Description. To get level 4 you need to describe what you are doing. What do you see? What does it look like?
- Level 5: Explanation. You need to think about why. Why do you say what you say? If the picture presents Jesus in a certain way explain why you think that is.
- Level 6: Analysis. The best way to do analysis is through “themes”. Good ones for this might be “death”, “emotion”, “colour”, “light”. Think about how these ideas might come through in your art and compare your art to the other pictures.

We’ve been looking at the story of the Lost (or Prodigal) Son. This is found in Luke’s Gospel (15:11-31), and you can find the pictures I used here.
Here’s some of your work:
The elder son:
The father (notice his radiating heart):
We even had a poem!
Megan also wrote something in her book defining love: “Love is caring about someone so much that nothing else matters and you would do anything for them”. I think that hits the nail on the head when it comes to looking at Christian ideas of love. Christians understand God to be like the father in the story - even though his children may go off and squander everything given to them they are still welcomed back with open arms and a party when they decide to return.

Today we looked at the story of Lazarus and what that told us about who Jesus was.
It’s not just about a dead man coming back to life, but showing that Jesus was the son of God and had God’s authority over life and death. It also shows the very human side of Jesus (he wept with the others).
You produced some interviews with characters in the story and we read some out; one involved “Four bleeps and a piano”! There was some great work so I had to give out loads of merits…
Homework is here.

This is due for the next lesson (24th February)…
Ask two different people what love is, write down their response and bring it to the next lesson.
Make sure it’s two different people. Perhaps someone at home, a friend, a grandparent, the postman?

Today we looked at how Jesus might be the Son of God as well as the Son of Man.
We started by thinking about symbolism - how one thing can point to another. Then we looked at some symbolic art, such as Rubens Adoration of the Magi (found in King’s College Chapel):
or Botticelli’s Mystic Nativity:
Then you created your own piece of art showing the nativity scene.
